Caring For Your New Art

Keeping your hand burned wood products looking like they did on day one is possible with a little bit of maintenance.

Most importantly, never let the item soak in water.

Hand wash only! Use warm soapy water to hand wash item. Lay flat to dry.

Secondly, oiling will help prevent the wood from drying out and cracking and keeps the shine and color rich and vibrant. Oil your wood once or twice a month depending on use. I prefer to use a food grade mineral oil, however other food safe board seasoning oils work well too. Avoid using any kind of cooking oil as they tend to go rancid.

Oiling instructions (for any wooden kitchen paraphernalia):

  •     Clean the wood: your cutting board or wooden spoon should be as clean as possible and thoroughly dry.

  •     Apply the oil: using a clean, soft cloth or paper towel, apply the oil in an even layer over the entire piece of wood.

  •     Let it soak in: leave the oil to soak in, overnight if possible, or for at least a few hours.

  •     Remove the excess: using a dry, clean cloth or paper towel, buff off any remaining oil so that the board does not feel damp or stick.

How to Clean Wood Decor

Keep away from direct sunlight and excessive moisture. Keep artwork indoors. If dusting is required, use a dry cloth and wipe off dust. Wood is porous so it is important to never get any liquids on it unless it is finished with a sealant.
